Nikolaj Coster-Waldau brings Greenland’s changing landscape to Street View

Greenland is all untouched in a way And if we all work together we can preserve this beautiful wilderness that we have left My name is Nikolaj Coster-Waldau. I'm an actor. Most people would know me from the show Game of Thrones where I play Jamie Lannister. Greenland is me and my family's second home. My wife Nukaaka grew up here. My children are half Greenlandic, and obviously Nukaaka and I want our children to know this place like we do. Working with Google Maps you get to see the planet, you get to see the variety of this world which is unbelievable. Greenland it's like a whole different world, it's like something out of a movie With the Trekker we're getting these very detailed snapshots of what Greenland is like today Hopefully it will help in a way shorten the distance between people around the world Now we're in Uunartoq which is famous for these hot springs There's no massive signs or neon lights saying "These are the hot springs!" It's just here.

What I love about Greenland is you turn a corner, you walk a few hundred yards and you're in the middle of nowhere. And i feel small in the best sense of the word. Most glaciers end up in the ocean, this is on land so we have all these beached whales of ice. We've been hearing about the terror of climate change for a long time now. Images are very powerful, much more than a graph or some statistics If we go and we film with the Trekker a glacier and come back in five years we'll be able to see that there's less of this ice in five years time. The climate is changing but we can do something about it. We have the technology, we have the brilliant minds. But we need the will. It's really the will of the people because at the end of the day, we are the ones to decide..
